Further Education & Training Certificate in Early Childhood Development
The FET Certificate in ECD is a nationally accredited ECD qualification, SAQA ID No. 58761. It is at Level 4 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF).
Duration:
10 Months
The qualification is 140 Credits, which includes working with children in an ECD setting, doing assignments, making classroom posters, games and teaching aids.
Learners collect evidence of their competence by building and maintaining a Portfolio of Evidence and implementing their learning at their ECD setting. This evidence is assessed by our registered assessors, moderated and then presented to the nationally Accreditation body for final verification and certification.
Purpose of this qualification:
This qualification is an entry-level qualification for those who want to enter the field of ECD education. This qualification will enable recipients to facilitate the all-round development of young children in a manner that is sensitive to culture and individual needs and enable them to provide quality early childhood development services for children in a variety of contexts, including community-based services, ECD centres, in playgroups, at home and in institutions.
Recipients of this qualification will be able to:
- Plan and prepare for Early Childhood Development
- Facilitate and monitor the development of babies, toddlers and young children
- Provide care and support to babies, toddlers and young children.
