Literacy and Numeracy Training (Every Word Counts)

Our training course in literacy and numeracy is a course originally produced by WordWorks, called Every Word Counts. We have adopted this course in-house to cater more for the needs of rural ECD practitioners.

The adapted Every Word Counts course introduces ECD practitioners to the best techniques to help young children develop and learn. It provides practical ideas for supporting the development of language, early literacy and maths concepts. The course also suggests a change of behaviour in how we teach our children in contrast to the traditional and cultural beliefs and practices of parenting and teaching.

In addition to teaching techniques, practitioners are also taught basic handcraft skills to enable them to make their own books, musical instruments and other resources from waste material.
